What is Abyss

Abyss is a market maker and exchange on the Midnight blockchain. It quotes a price for each token pair and is the counterparty to every swap. Swaps settle on-chain through an escrow that moves funds between your wallet and the desk's.

• Automatic hedging. Every fill is offset on outside exchanges within moments, so the desk carries no market risk and keeps the spread it quoted.
• Self-custody. Your funds move through an on-chain escrow, never an Abyss account, and a stalled swap refunds itself after its deadline.
• Public or private. Every token comes in a shielded (private) and an unshielded (public) form, and you can swap in either direction.
• Gasless. The desk submits the final claim and pays the gas, so you never hold any.
• Full admin control. One console runs the desk live: prices, spreads, tokens, pairs, risk limits, wallets, and a one-click halt, all without code and logged.
